11/09/2007 - Gretna, Scotland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Hibernian was the surprise outfit during the first two months of the current Scottish Premier League season, beating both Celtic and Rangers during a nine-game unbeaten run.
Since that time, however, the club has taken just one point from its last three games, dropping Hibs into third place, six points back of league-leaders Celtic.
The team has struggled over the past couple of weeks, but has a chance to get back in the win column on Saturday at last-place Gretna.
The promoted side has won just once in its first 12 games, and is already six points back in the relegation battle.
However, the club signed Nigerian striker Henry Makinwa during the past week, and they feel that a turnaround is on the horizon.
Gretna has already yielded 30 goals in 12 games, and they will not be having any kind of success if that record continues. Defender Chris Innes will return after missing the past two games with a toe injury, but Martin Canning and Aurilien Collin will both miss because of injury, while Craig Barr continues to serve a suspension.
Hibernian manager John Collins will most likely be without defender David Murphy, who suffered a rib injury in the team's 1-1 draw with Hearts last week. However, Collins got good news when midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin and striker Steven Fletcher both came out of the Hearts' contest fully healthy after coming back from injuries.
Fletcher leads the team in goals with six, and he will be looking to add to that total on Saturday against a porous Gretna back line.
The two teams have met once already this season, with Hibs taking a 4-2 win at home. The game saw Gretna take a 2-0 lead into the second half, but the hosts responded with four unanswered goals to earn all three points.
"The last time we played Gretna there was an unbelievable last 25 minutes," Collins told the club's website. "We got four goals and might have had more, it was a great fight back and the lads showed a great spirit that day. But we go to them this time and they are fighting for their lives, they will be wounded after their last few games and teams in their position are very often dangerous."
In Saturday's other action, Dundee United tries to rebound from a loss to Aberdeen last time out that snapped the club's three-game win streak when the team faces off with Kilmarnock, while second-from-the-bottom club Inverness hosts Motherwell.
The lone game on Sunday features Aberdeen entertaining Hearts. The Dons have gone unbeaten in their last five league contests to move into fifth place, while Hearts has taken just one point from its last three games to fall to eighth in the standings.
